چکیده

and Implications A comparative map of human chromosome 3 (HSA3) and pig chromosome 13 (SSC13) was constructed using physically assigned pig sequence tagged sites (STSs). Pig STS representing 11 HSA3 genes were developed and 10 pig STS were regionally mapped using a somatic cell hybrid panel (SCHP) to SSC13 with 80Ð100% concordance. Large-insert probes were obtained by screening a YAC library with primers for each STS. YACs were identified for DRD3, GAP43, PIT1, SI, and SST for fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) mapping. Single gene and bicolor FISH with each pairwise combination was used to further define gene order on SSC13. These data confrim chromosome painting results that showed HSA3 probes hybridize to a major portion of pig chromosome 13 and demonstrate extensive gene rearrangements within this conserved synteny group.

Comparative mapping of human chromosome 13 genes in the pig shows a similar gene arrangement

Previous comparative mapping between the human and pig genomes suggested complete conservation of human chromosome 13 (HSA13) to pig chromosome 11 (SSC11). The objectives of this study were comparative gene mapping of pig homologs of HSA13 genes and an examination of gene order within this conserved synteny group by physical assignment of each locus. A detailed HSA13 to SSC11 comparison was cho...

Comparative mapping of human chromosome 10 to pig chromosomes 10 and 14.

Identification of predictive markers in QTL regions that impact production traits in commercial populations of swine is dependent on construction of dense comparative maps with human and mouse genomes. Chromosomal painting in swine suggests that large genomic blocks are conserved between pig and human, while mapping of individual genes reveals that gene order can be quite divergent. High-resolu...

I-49: Human Y Chromosome ProteomeProject

The success of the Human Genome Project (HGP) has provided a blueprint for the approximately 20,000 gene-encoded proteins potentially active in all of the hundreds of cell types that make up the human body. Yet we still have limited knowledge about a majority of the gene-encoded proteins which are the “building blocks of life” and “cellular machinery”. It is estimated that for nearly half of th...

Addition of Thirteen Genes to the Porcine Comparative Gene Map Reveals New Regions of Conserved Synteny

Thirteen genes were mapped to the porcine genome by using either linkage mapping of the PiGMaP families (eight genes) or typing of a porcine somatic cell hybrid panel (12 genes). The genes were chosen from interesting locations in the human genome. The physical gene assignments to pig chromosomes (SSC) with corresponding human chromosome (HSA) locations include the following: FGF7 (HSA15), MADH...
